{What Time Can Not Erase} « Thread Started on Jun 1, 2009, 11:37pm »
I'm so tired of being here, suppressed by all my childish fears. And if you have to leave, I wish that you would just leave. 'Cause your presence still lingers here and it won't leave me alone. These wounds won't seem to heal. This pain is just too real. There's just too much that time cannot erase.
A placid wall of pale gray clouds covered the entire sky, drawing color from everything below it. Snow fell from these clouds like falling ash, a stark white, solemn reminder of the past winter.
Cold chocolate eyes stared out into the bleak, lonely landscape of the Reix pack lands. Locked on something invisible in the distance as her mind wandered. One year ago and nothing has changed. A sharp breeze moved the thick white coat that lay upon the solid body of the young shepherd mix. The bare branches in the lemon tree, she rested next to, rustled breaking the silence. I still can’t believe she’s gone… Her eyes began to glaze as her mind drifted into the past.
It really hadn’t been all that long. Two years now but for her it seemed to have been an eternity. After all she wasn’t even a year old when they last met eyes. Though she could remember her like it was only yesterday. Her feminine body, draped in a long weightless white coat tinted with age. Her movement was seamless, each stride displaying her power and dominance. Her voice eloquent and unfaltering. She was everything Bullet dreamed of becoming. But with the sudden death of her father and mentor Titanius, the young and heartbroken Bullet left the pack without a word of her destination. At the time it seemed to be the best for everyone. She had very little control over her emotions and it would scar her appearance forever if anyone was to see the condition that her father’s death brought upon her. She would never have the same respect as Iris if they saw her in the way she was.
It wasn’t until her return the following winter that she realized how very wrong she was to leave. She had been so ignorant to not even consider what consequences might follow her absence. Her departure soon lead to that of her brothers departures, leaving Iris to run the pack. While she was still quite capable, her age was slowly stealing the power from beneath her and this was her downfall. Her blood was spilled upon the snow covered grounds of the Impound Lot. She died defending the pack from a much younger and immature bitch. One that would abandon the pack shortly after gaining her alpha status… If only she had never left… Maybe her mother would still be alive today…
Bullet couldn’t say that she would still be around because she was still there. She could feel her presence everywhere. Could feel her joy when Bullet finally reclaimed the pack after the multitude of “leaders” that came and went. And could feel her disappointment that grew each day as the pack slowly dwindled away. Only a skeleton of what it once was. Of what it was when Iris had been its leader.
Bullet rubbed her face into her legs, smearing the track of tears that had begun with the cold snow. No more tears would be cried. Her decision had been made. Though she had yet to decide if it would be what Iris wanted, she herself could no longer carry on in the manner she was. It was quite literally driving her out of her mind and changes would have to be made.
She slowly came to her feet. Her pale coat dripping with snow that had melted below her warm body. She padded slowly. Carefully making her way down the paths, past the decrepit cars making her way to their center, to the building that her mother had once dwelled.
Her paws finally reached the bare concrete floors. The air inside the building was still sharp from the cold. Each breath was almost painful. Bullet padded slowly to the buildings center. Each step harder than the last. Glass was still strewn about from the previous winter when she had learned of her mother’s death from her brother, Ricochet. Ricochet why did you leave me now. Her legs were shaking so she promptly sat. Her deep chocolate eyes closed as she lowered her head and took a deep shaky breath. Letting the icy air sting her already pained chest.
You used to captivate me by your resonating light. Now I'm bound by the life you left behind. Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams. Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me. I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone... But though you're still with me, I've been alone all along.

Amber oculars blazed with a turmoil of thoughts which coursed through the former Dire prince's mind. Time had taken him away from Bullet and starved him of his ability to lead Reix--a thought that had been so exhilarating what seemed ages ago but, now was more of dark cloud than anything else. So much, had happened since Syndrome had asked Bullet to help him lead Reix. Many of the candids had vacated the city or just vanished into the seams of it. It felt so surreal to him to walk down the same streets, he walked down only a month ago or so and see it so deserted. Not that the city was not deserted before but, at least he would see some stray candids lurking about, no doubt trying to spy on him or just rustling about the alley ways, looking for sustenance. It just brought him into a funk to think of how oddly quiet the city was now and how there was no thrill to leading Reix for the whole reason he wanted to lead it was because, it was falling and also to royally piss off Zy'riah, his mother Wraith and the entirety of Dire. Well, maybe back then, it was about pissing a few dogs of but now that Syndrome was far older at the ripe age of two his mind was far more mature than it had been at 20 months when he had first called for Bullet.
As his behemoth paws slapped at the pavement, he mused about his brother Dean and his other siblings, for they had all gone missing. He was not one to talk for he too had gone missing in action for a time but, this was a break he needed for reflection and in that, he was sure Reix and Bullet was lost to him. Just as now Dean, his favorite brother was lost to him and deep down it hurt to know that he was gone--somewhere out there doing who knows what. Was he dead or was he alive in the city? Syndrome felt his gut roll and felt the need to eject his breakfast, as he thought about Dean lying out there dead. He had barely spent any quality time with him and he knew it was his fault for he could have sought him out and taken that time to know him.
He felt that meal churning in his stomach and felt his throat burn as the sickness of guilt took over. Before, the ex Dire Prince (and most likely ex Reix King now), knew it, he was heaving and lost control of his ability to keep the meal down. The brute doubled over and wretched in mid gait, his eyes closing as he sent what was his last meal all over the pavement. With his eyes still closed, he slowly lifted his head back up and his nostrils wrinkled at the stench of it. His stomach felt queasy still so he stayed still, trying to compose himself before he took another step. Finally, after a few minutes, he felt relief come to his gullet and he picked up his path once again. The one that would lead him to another lost cause which was his love Bullet. His heart felt as though ice had formed around the edges as he predicted the response from Bullet, he was bound to get: severe rejection.
He couldn't deny her emotions for he had been the ass and left her alone. He knew she would be upset and he was lucky if she did not rip off his head the second she laid eyes on him. How could he have been such an ass? Where did he go wrong? Somewhere, he knew and that was he had let his Dire roots get to him and allowed that wicked, dark mindset to overtake his logical mind. He had gone astray on his path and allowed the darkness; the taint to control him. Luckily, he realized what was happening to him before it was too late and he found himself again. All that bothered him now, was the fact that he had let it happen--that he let Zy'riah's teachings come back to him and had succumb to a darker side of himself. He knew now, what he needed to do and he hoped Bullet would listen to reason: he would reject the title of Reix King and leave Pherio. He had to get away from this all and he just hoped Bullet would find it in her heart to forgive him and come with him.
He forced his mind to stray from that though for he knew the answer would not come to him until he saw her. He forced his ears to listen to his own slapping paws; to tune into the rhythmic beat. It was all the Reix King could do to prevent himself from loosing it. He knew he had to face her and the time was now or never. He would bear the look or disgust on her face and try and ignore the sickness in his belly as his heart was torn asunder, by actions he brought onto himself. Though, he couldn't blame Bullet for casting him aside, he would never forgive himself for hurting her; for being so stupid as to leave her. He would never feel love again if she tossed him away--he would wear the scars forever as a reminder of his idiocy of throwing such a love as Bullet away so carelessly.

Tossing and turning, Toshi was in his feverish sleep. He had caught something a week before, and been sweating and exhausted since. Fever had set in, and his throat had ached and was dry. He was very nearly relieved of it. This, in fact, was the final sleep he would have while this sickness was in him. He would wake up entirely healed. The difference between this sleep and the others, however, was the dream. None of the others had been accompanied by any sort of dream at all. But this sleep in particular... Had become a warped and contorted nightmare to which there seemed no end.
I am a man Of constant sorrows I've seen trouble All my days
He was surrounded. Apparitions floated around, familiar to him. There was a wisp of blue... And he turned to it. It was him, albeit a much younger him, static body crackling and sobbing uncontrollably. It tried to scream. It gagged on its own tears. Next came the flash of red, yellow, orange... All depressed, lethargic. They were him at different stages in life. The defensive, abused two-year old... The sensible, amnesiac four-year old. And the confused Him at one and a half. This whole scene was horror to him. No, not these spectres! Anything, please, God, but these creatures... The others who had for so long shared his body were still much alive within him, and it terrified him. They might wrestle control from him, turn him back into the many-faced monster he had been...
A wail escaped the sobbing one just as it burst into nothingness and death. Toshi screamed inwardly.
There, where the blue had flickered just before, fangs bared where its neck would have been, stood the Crazed one. That burst of violet filled his vision. It was the only thing he could see. The others were all gone. Figments of this bizarre illusion. This, by far, was worse than that scene had been. Somehow this one had survived. And he knew what it wanted.
"You thought I was gone. I should know; I am you. But what you don't know is that you will need me, very soon. You will need to be ruthless, skillful... Swift. And I am your fight reflex. I am your anger, your violence. I am what you will need for the task before you. We will meet again soon. There are many trials on the road ahead. Remember that."
I bid farewell... To old Kentucky.... The place where I.... Was born and raised.
He burst into awareness and conciousness in a cold sweat, howling as his eyes opened, and abruptly hushing himself when he realised that he might not be the only pack member resting in an abandoned winnebago, few though they were. Not just winnebagos, but canines in the pack. They had faded out misteriously. He had blacked out in his meeting with Ricochet and Shrapnel. Neither of them had been seen since. That was a true pity. For all of his restored loyalty to the pack and his constant presence on its lands, most of those he knew and held that loyalty to had vanished without a trace.
He smelled something. His dream had vanished into the recesses of his mind. He knew nothing of it. But here was the scent of his leader Bullet, and her mate, Syndrome. He knew little of Syndrome. But Bullet... So much of his life had he devoted to the protection and service of her bloodline! He ran to the site, and Stood at attention to the best of his ability. Waiting for orders or acknowledgement, even to be ignored. If he was needed...
He was ready.

The soft light barely broke the deep shadows that filled the throne of the impound lot, the dwelling of the alphess both the current and the deceased. Snow had blown through the broken windows and opened doors, dusting the concrete ground. The young shepherd mix still sat in the center of the abandoned building, unmotivated to move for any reason, she remained still like a statue. Her white fur blending in with the smooth ground, darkened by the shadows it seemed to absorb the concrete, allowing her entire body to stay fixated on the distance for all eternity.
In reality she was somewhat frozen with fear. Never before had a time come that she did not trust herself and her own decisions with every fiber of her being until now. She could feel teeth digging deep into her chest, each contraction of her heart only allowing the teeth to dig deeper into her flesh. It was Iris, she could feel her own mother’s teeth ripping into her heart, tearing her towards the inevitable and facing her to realize the truth. Bullet was not yet fit to lead Reix.
Until now the signs had come small. A fight with a member here, a failed hunt there. Then the problems began to grow… Not one but three members would just drop from the pack at a time; they couldn’t deal with her unwillingness to listen to their thoughts. To her, they were mere beasts, unworthy to question any decision she made. For a matter of weeks hunts would come back with only scraps of what was needed because they followed her orders to hunt on grounds that had been abandoned by prey, something she didn’t know because she refused to leave the Impound Lot because if she did someone else would be in charge while she was gone. Her God Complex; Her fatal flaw. Only now, as she sat alone with her mother’s ghost ripping into her flesh, did she begin to rethink her decision to the slightest degree.
She head hung in a manner new to her concrete form, allowing herself to watch as her chest heaved and sunk with each clouded breath she made. Her ears filled with the sound of the blood rushing from her heart with each strong beat and her nose filled with the crisp frozen air… tainted with the scent of another dog. She lifted her head allowing her eyes to drift forward once more.
In the distance, standing in the doorway, was a shadow of a dog standing at attention. Without even having seen the straight-laced pose, Bullet would have known from the scent that it was her most loyal beast. It was her dear Toshi. Such an obedient dog he was. Surely the truest and most pure hearted of the Reix beasts. The closest thing to the royal family itself. In fact even if she would never dare admit it, she felt as though he was family and attempted to treat him so without letting him get upon pedestal. After all no matter what, no matter how much she cared for him, he would always be a lower rank, just another beast.
Until now, her sanity depended upon him becoming more than she believed he had ever imagined.
“ Toshi.” It was only that single bold word she spoke before rising. Her body stiff from the icy hard ground but she refused to stretch before him, one of the many things she considered a sign of weakness, unnecessary stretching. Her legs broke each step with a slight limp because of this but she slowly made her way across the building regardless. She stopped a few feet away from him, unsure of how he might react to the radical changes she had in mind but she knew if anyone could handle them it would be him. Despite how he might hate them… In her heart she couldn’t imagine him ever going against her will.
“Toshi you have been a steadfast, devoted member of Reix for longer than I have even been around… I need you to listen to my words just as you have always done.” Her voice was strong and steady. It was clear she had thought about what she was going to say and exactly how to say it, for some time now. “I need you to stay strong and not break beneath what I need to lay upon you… You’re the only one I feel I can trust for this…” She stopped there, waiting a moment to see how he would react to her opening alone. Praying that he would be able to grasp the complexity of the situation and would be willing to let her lay down the rest that she held back from him for the moment.
Then something changed in her expression. She took a deep breath, letting her head extend towards the sky before exhaling another cloud of smoke. When her head returned to it's normal position, her eyes were wide with surprise. "He's returned." She whispered, not looking at Toshi any more and not addressing him personally.
With a sudden movement she rose from the ground, raising her tail high over her back and her hackles raised lightly as well. She made her way swiftly across to the other end of the building where another door had been broken through over time. Slowing at the door she took a few rapid breaths through her nose. His scent was near but how close she was unsure. It had been some time since she had laid eyes upon him and they too had some things to discuss.
Bullet slowly stepped beyond the door. Still on high alert, unsure of what to expect, and began to search the horizon. "Syndrome?" She called out in a voice that's strong intention was not met. In fact her voice sounded quite weak compared to normal and almost... desperate...

Amber trailed along the street, taking in every detail for he may never come back to this city again. He felt hardnes sin his chest but, mainly it was guilt over Bullet and not so much leaving behind Wraith or his aunt Zy'riah for he loathed them more than anything in this world. Dean he would certaintly miss and he would carry what he knew of Dean; hold it close to him and let it be his guiding light for the rest of his days for the dark angel had taught him so much even though they barely spent any time together. Bullet taught him values as well and those he would carry within his heart, even if she tossed him aside like the piece of crap he was. Vhrea, he would definately miss his sweet niece and he wished more than anything else he could stick around for her and to be her guiding light as Dean was for him but, he knew staying around meant his ultimate destruction, for he would tear himself apart. Somehow, as much as it tore him up inside, he knew the little girl would find herself a good pack andshe would be safe in the company of them. She was a bright girl and she knew dire was no good and she was smart so, she knew their dirty tricks.
He felt a sense of reward in the thought of her being protected by a secure gang and that she was so intelligent and saw right through Dire's evil ways. He knew she would grow to be something imporatnt and even, maybe run her own gang. His insurence was that those of Reix would watch over her for they knew she was Syndrome's neice and even though she may not head for Reix itself, he had a feeling they would still keep an eye on her. Solarai was a good source of protection as well and though Syndrome never talked or met any of them personally, there were ties between Reix and them, and even Tanto. His spirit lifted some as he felt reassured of Vhrea's fate but, was still in darkness about his own fate. Would Bullet accept him back into her life or would she cast him away like a stone? Syndrome would not blame her if she did but, the pain still hurt nether the less.
That was the ultimate lesson thoug was it not? Pain was a good teacher to those who did wrong and Syndrome would have to suffer the consequences of his actions. There was nod enying he loved bullet but, his absence from her side was enough to suggest he hadn't cared for her after all. Truth was, he had become lost and it was now he had refound himself and his true purpose in this city--which was not to run Reix but, to leave it for his presnece could cause quite a controversy. Once, Wraith and Zy'riah found out he was runnign Reix they would never forget him and he wouldalways be stalked from the shadows and forced to look over his shoulder at every monment he felt a chill run down his back. He couldn't live life like that, and he would only cause his own mental anguish and possibly insanity from such a paraniod existence. He knew somehow Bullet would understand, even if she hated him.
It was then the Reix King heard her voice and his eyes lifted to see the expression in her eyes and the tauntnes sof her face.There was another nearby and he regonized the dog instantly: Toshi. Though, Toshi never met Syndrome, he had caught a glimpse of him on occassion and knew the male was as loyal as they came. He would need to apologize to Toshi as well and thank him for being so respectful and loyal to Bullet when he had not been. Syndrome had a ton of work to do before he deserved forgiveness and he knew this--he was prepared to do what he had too to get back into their good sights. He straightend his shoulders and swallowed hard as he moved closer and found his voice burning within his throat. His muscles quivered as he felt his skin grow hot from the suspense of a rejection from both of them that he knew he was bound to get. "Bullet....Toshi...I...please.." He felt himself choking on his words and as he moved closer, he fought to finish the sentence. "I know..I have no excuse and so...I will give none. I apologize for..neglecting you and Reix." The King's head dipped lowly, his eyes casting to his paws as the King solemnly awaited judgement.

Dream When you're feeling blue... Dream, that's the thing to do...
The sudden entrance of Syndrome did not shock Toshi much. And for heaven knows what reason, it actually encouraged him. It calmed him to see these two together. He nearly forgot in this rush of content that Bullet had said something to him. But he dared not interrupt until... There it was. A statement that very nearly made him him lash out at something. ...Neglecting you and the Reix... He gritted his teeth. Syndrome had no clue what neglect really was. He shouldn't blame himself so! Why was it that so many people who had done no wrong could find it appropriate to apologize to him? It simply could not be in Syndrome's mind that he had wronged Reix. Maybe Bullet, Toshi had no knowledge of their private affairs, after all, but surely not the Reix! What this world was coming to was beyond him. But surely not to the point where a servant demanded or deserved an apology from a master who was so noble, so innocent of any crime against him?
Dream while the smoke rings rise in the air You'll find your share Of memories there So....
He bit his tongue, resisting the urge to speak. He very nearly bowed his head. So many thoughts raced through his agile mind in those few seconds that he started developing a mild headache. This all seemed so impossible to him. What was Bullet's interest with him? What was this burden that she wished to place on him? Though he was more than willing to accept any demand that she wished, he wanted to know what it was. He might prove incompetent, obsolete in every way... What was this thing she would ask of him? He was suddenly filled with fear, and his {dream} rushed back to him. There are many trials on the road ahead. Yes, this sudden fear was now explained. He was scaring himself to death. But how, why would he need to be aggresive in the future? What was happening was beyond him. Premonitions were frightening and overly superstitious. Very unlike him. And yet he had had one, it seemed. He wanted desperately to be asleep again, for the reality of this situation was scaring him. He would be asked something, something surely that he would accept but that would cost him and those around him dearly... Surely!
Dream When the day is through Dream and they might come true
But here it was. In the few seconds that had passed, and all of the thoughts that were steadily increasing the ache in his temples, he had lost control of his urge to speak. "What have you to apologise to me for, my lord? What have you done to damage me as an individual? I serve the two of you, and the other heirarchs of this pack. I have done nothing to deserve your apology, and you have done nothing to have to give it to me!" He was shuddering slightly. The dent in the back of his skull hurt. So did the scar across his muzzle. He was too concerned with this obvious mistake in judgement now to pay attention to what Bullet had said unless she pursued it further. He would get to it later. Surely Syndrome couldn't believe that he had neglected the pack? He and lady Bullet had been present far more than he had. He had returned only to chaos and turmoil and constant leadership changes, and a very distraught lord Ricochet and transformed lord Shrapnel, both of whom had vanished shortly before Bullet and Syndrome had taken their deserved place at the head of the pack. They together had whipped the pack into proper order, something he in his wildest dreams would never accomplish.
Things never are as bad as they seem So dream Dream, dream
"Lord Syndrome, I do not understand. Please, why do you need to...?" And with that, Toshi's voice trailed off into a void, waiting to be filled with the words of another. Someone of authority, who could take charge of a situation when such was demanded. The look of worry on his face grew more exaggerated, and he stood waiting for more dialogue from his Lord and Lady.
Things never are as bad as they seem So dream Dream... Dream.......

Oh baby dont you know I suffer? Oh baby can you hear me moan? You caught me under false pretenses. How long before you let me go?
Bullet remained rigid waiting for him to come into view, her hackles raised, her ears rotating with anticipation at every sound in the distance. When his figure finally became visible, she raised her lips into a twisted smile and waited, remaining still, for him to be near. It’d been at least a month now since she’d seen his face or heard his voice.
Her tail flickered behind her with excitement. Despite his thoughts there was not a sliver of animosity that she held against him in his absence, though she might let him think so that he didn’t leave again. It was part of what attracted her to him, that arrogant “does what he wants to” attitude of his. A personality worthy of his royal blood so she thought. Iris would have said he was too much of a badass for Reix but he was exactly what Bullet had been looking for. With both her parents gone and both brothers missing she needed something to fill the void and she was convinced Syndrome was her solution to the gaping hole that they left in her heart.
His entire disappearance had been rather puzzling to Bullet and somewhat frustrating as well. He had not even hinted towards his plans to take off. He did still have connections to the Dire hierarchy maybe he had something there to clear up. There was a lot about him she still did not know, he very well could have had something to attend to. Still, despite all, she had toyed with idea that he had some other bitch he had his eyes on. Surely, he couldn’t find one better than her but, the idea of anyone else laying a paw upon him with friendly intentions made her chest rumble.
As he drew near she could smell his scent even stronger. She the toothy warning grin turned into a smirk. The muscles on her hind legs quivered as she struggled to keep them from stampeding like an excited fool and her tail flickered even more as she attempted to hold it straight. She was about ready to explode with an excited whiny cry but held it down with every ounce of will power she had. How ridiculous would she look if she let go? Just the thought was humiliating. She had never felt this way about anyone or anything before and it was driving her crazy. Just as she was about to let out some snide remark about where he’d been, he spoke.
"Bullet....Toshi...I...please.." "I know..I have no excuse and so...I will give none. I apologize for..neglecting you and Reix."
Her face dropped all emotion and her body became still. Her deep chocolate eyes widened with a mix of surprise and something more… She stared at him for a moment before dropping her head and letting out a soft laugh. “Heh. My God. What’s happened to you?” She whispered to herself between chuckles.
It was then Toshi who spoke. Words that were so true it hurt to hear them come from the subordinate. Any other time she might have snapped at him for speaking outright like he did but at this moment he was in the right. Bullet stopped laughing and let her face become serious once more. Her tail rose upon her back and she raised her head in a dominant way. Then began to move forward with powerful strides. She slowly, closely circled him once and upon her second round she began to speak. “ How dare you apologize? And to a subordinate much less… And then include me in the same apology?! Gone for only a month and you turn into some little weak bitch?” She chuckled with little to no humor in her voice. “How dare you embarrass me in such a way? I called you my King. Apologies just show how weak you are. Don’t want to take credit for your own actions? Have no faith in yourself now? To think claimed you as my mate. Not even a greeting… for me. I had one planned for you... ” She twisted her tail across his face as she circled him once more, teasing him with what he could have had. “Don’t you think I knew you would be a bastard sometimes? You are a Dire prince arn't you? Or did you not think I had the brains to see into your eyes? I was attracted to your pride, your arrogant air.” She growled, “But I can see now that it is gone… Go on continue to grovel at Toshi’s feet, don’t let me stop you. He is your King now after all.” She finished her last circle around Syndrome stopping slowly in front of him without making eye contact. “ I thought you were better than this.” And then began to slowly trot back towards her lemon tree. Her ears flat against her skull in a strange fashion, and her hackles still raised. She was distraught. Her heart being pulled in so many directions… Why’d he have to apologize?
I thought I was a fool for no-one. Oh baby I'm a fool for you. You're the king of the superficial. And how long before you tell the truth?
```````````````````` {Word Count} - 833 w/o lyrics {Puppet} - Bullet {Muse} - Great once I got going {Song} - Supermassive Blackhole by Muse {Thoughts} – Gah. This post was really late again. I am really trying to get these out asap. This one was hard though because I had to really think about what Bullet was gonna do. She really hates it when dog's apologize to or thank another dog. So, now she's kinda forgotten about Toshi so I didn't mention much there on purpose and she's pissed at Syndrome for acting weak. She still luffs him though and by trashing him she hoped to rile him up some. Listen to the song when you read it too. The music fits her stride perfectly. ^^
Amber oculars went wide with wonder and confusion and his brow wrinkled in silent distress as he settled his frame just nigh of Bullet and Toshi. Never, had he guessed he would receive such shocked expressions from them but he was rather expecting a much more violent and emotional response from the duo. After all, he had gone missing in action, without a single word to his Queen and even though he was King, he felt a disrespect had been given to the members that he actually met in his short time at holding King of Reix. His long mane which rested along his spinal column shot on end; bristling at their words and as a wave of discontent washed over him. He was at a loss for words for a moment, choking and reeling in reply to the confusion and distraught which swept the once arrogant King. When had decency come into play into this Dire brute; this infectious disease that was likely to the coolness of a venomous tainted snake and the slickness of a trickster fox? Perhaps, his time away had done more to him than he thought and this made him far more uncomfortable than before. Here he was on the hot plate, served on a silver platter right before Toshi's eyes and Bullet's discretion and all he could do was gulp for air like a fish out of its element.
However, just as he felt he was about to take his last breath, his smile turned into a devilish smirk and his eyes glazed over in a dangerous glow. His tongue flicked the top of his mouth before slithering out to bring words of toxin with it. "That's right, Toshi. I don't need to explain myself but, I do need to clear the air." His smirk wrinkled into his cheek corners as he lifted his eyes to Bullet, appraising her before reverting them back to Toshi. "I simply needed a vacation and so I took it. Now, I return to bring news of a great decision." His large digits pressed into the ground, splaying wide as he lurched forward and moved like liquid toward Bullet. His tall ears rotated and his head lowered, tipping to the side in a coy manner, sparking the deviant gloss within his amber oculars. "My lady, I have lost nothing at all. I have decided to give it away. Reix was not taken but, given to me and so I choose to simply hand it over to another." His lips peeled away, flashing her a devious grin that was akin to the smirk upon the devil himself as he set fire underneath the godly throne on which the Lord sat and governed his sheep. "And you my dear...you are still mine. When you choose to dance with the devil, there is no escaping." The King still knew how to play and play he did and like a master violinist plucking the strings of his instrument, he too caressed the strings upon the heart of Bullet. Dance my sweet, dance my sweet it seemed to sing.
Slowly, he backed off from her, knowing his cobra would likely strike as soon as the music stopped playing. With the grin still smothered on his muzzle, he spun around on agile paws and faced Toshi. "Nothing has changed. You see?!" Then, the words, oh those words hit his ears and cause his grin to twist into something far more sickening. His laughter came spilling into the air, his chest shaking with its deep tone. "This is not news to me. I will gladly allow Toshi to take the torch. Let him lead for I was never meant for such a purpose." Again, he spun around this time facing Bullet, his laughter still coughing from his lungs and that manic grin still on his face. "Bullet..you know that it was ours to simply take without a fight and so I knew someday it be our decision to simply give it away as easily. You and I belong free to roam the streets and assist from the shadows when we are needed." Like a wave of relief, Syndrome felt the cloak lifting from his frame and once again he felt unchained. No longer would he have to attend to a pack he was not fit to lead nor answer to the whining voices who cried for things he couldn't give them.
Somewhere, beyond the sea Somewhere, waiting for me... My lover stands on golden sands And watches the ships that go sailing...
It was not until Syndrome's response to Bullet that Toshi realised what was happening. The words of the lord and lady before him struck Toshi like a train. It blew him apart inside. He felt himself leaning, ready to fall into and through the ground beneath him like a stone into a river, spiraling to the bottom in a cloud of murk and sludge. He fell to pieces in his mind and was fully concious of it. That spectre was there in the eyes of the other two, taunting him with the now present memory of his dream. You see? You need me. You need what they have. She's got it, he's got it... But you don't. You don't want me. But you can't keep anyone under your command without me. You can't do what you're told anymore... Without me. He broke out in a cold sweat. This couldn't be happening, could it? They couldn't just up and leave, surely! And place whom in charge? Him?! How? What could be rushing through their minds, these foolish dogs? Why they would select a loon like him for such a thing was unthinkable. Could they not see that he was merely a follower??
Somewhere, beyond the sea She's there, watching for me If I could fly like birds on high Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing...
If you think about it, it's fairly reminiscent of the notion of karma. You booted the violence from yourself, and yet here I am, ready and willing to come back into you so you can do this. He leaned a little further. Barely noticable though this slant in his stance was, it was there. And Toshi felt as though he were leaning due to the weight of hundreds of bricks upon his back. What hell was manifesting itself here? And it's tearing you apart. I can see it. I can feel it. But just think- A stronger you. Maybe you'll even grow a spine with me in you... Or maybe you'll just be the same sadistic motherfuck who I festered in in the first place. This couldn't be. He was losing it again, if he'd ever had it. Sanity, he feared, was slipping from him for the second time in his life. And he dreaded it. How could this happen? He had worked so hard to come to a norm, and the tiniest thing had upset that. But this wasn't a small matter, was it? This was the future of his fellows. His brothers and sisters in arms. The legacy that Bullet's mother had created, the legacy that rightly should remain with her brood.
It's far beyond a star It's near beyond the moon I know, beyond a doubt! My heart will lead me there soon
His throat grew dry. And itched. How torturous. How typical. That he would bend and twist and crumble under the pressure of what was clearly a simple demand by a superior. He had always been incompetent, it seemed. Always been unable to carry out truly important tasks, even on a personal basis. Had he pursued that grey femme, much though he had been intrigued by her? No. And he had deeply regretted that choice. That mistake. He had regretted not retaining absolute loyalty to the pack, as had been his intent. He had strayed for nearly a year, and it had crumbled for a while while he slept in toppled trash barrels and ate scraps from behind the few remaining businesses in this nearly abandoned city. The humans were nearly gone. What had he been there for? To search for his dear and close Mr. Gregor, who had been foolish enough to place him in the hands of his vile kin when he vanished from the earth and into the ground beneath? Yes, Toshi must have followed that trail, now that it came to mind. And that was where it had led. To nothing. Straight below his own four paws.
We'll meet, beyond the shore We'll kiss, just as before
There was nothing anywhere for him. Nothing to look to for comfort or disgust, nothing to love or hate, only confusion abound all around him. And he had lived in this stupidity since he had regained control of himself. What was there for him? He had given no effort in anything in this life. He had laid about in the guise of a loyal follower, only to sit and dissolve as he was issued a command or had one implied to him. No more. There would be no more. He swallowed that violent, snide part of him. He tore it to pieces and welcomed it into his mind and heart, then blinked in a confused manner as he looked back and forth from Syndrome to Bullet as he could have don thirty seconds ago when the last words had been spoken. Now for the confirmation. He was ready, it seemed, for anything that was thrown at him now. His fear for his darker half was gone, it now a part of him again. He would not fear a loss of control with so much work about to be presented to him. He was sx years old and he was going to beat life in teh face until it gave him what he demended of it. And he would start now, despite the stuttering.
"E-excuse me...? What?!?!"
And so it would begin.
Happy we'll be, beyond the sea And never again I'll go sailing...
Her stride was slow, each step just inching her forward. She planned for a reaction to arise out of him before she could get too far away. At least that’s what she had hoped for. His actions still had her mind rolling in confusion. How could he act in such a way? Bullet still couldn’t wrap her head around it but deep down it made her decision to leave easier in the slightest way. It was clear he had yet to learn about the mysterious interworking of Reix. How even though the King and Queen were to remain loyal to the pack… the pack had an undying loyalty to them and supported them with any decision they made. Good or bad, right or wrong.
And this was the pack’s fatal flaw. The reason she could not remain as well. It was destine to only survive under the perfect leader. One who knows how to care for not only himself but a pack as well. Someone who has something she lacked… compassion.
Still creeping forward she could smell the change in the cold air, almost feel the confidence rise in the dark canine behind her. The fur bristled even more along her back with a slight shiver. He’s back. She stopped moving and raised her ears waiting for his response. Still facing the same direction and not until he spoke did she give a glance back.
The smirk upon her face was not meant to be one of pleasure but the dangerous tone it held was flickering as it fought against her feelings and quickly fell as he moved towards her. In a mixture of awe and fright she froze. Her chocolate eyes glazed over as they locked upon his dark figure, hypnotized by his voice. Her heart beat faster and faster with each word that dripped from his tongue. He was almost finished speaking before she started regaining consciousness of her own body once again. Her white tail flicked and her lips curled up in a threatening fashion. She was hooked and he was playing with the line. Her tongue flicked across her still peeled lips and he turned right on queue.
Bullet lowered her lips and smirked, this time exposing her pleasure, with his back turned. She felt as though she was losing her mind. She was pissed at him one moment for being weak, then suddenly in awe of his power and then pissed because of the hold he had on her and yet glad to have him back. Her emotions were just a roll of his die.
After he finished his rant with Toshi, she didn’t bother this time to withhold her emotion as he turned back around to face her. “Obvously… my Syndrome.” She trotted towards him, “You were not destined to rule Reix… only to infect its heir. And it is so, I can never leave you, you are my antidote to this sickness.” She twisted her tail along his face as she moved past him. Letting the long white fur settle on before pulling it away, teasing him. ”Is it not true that the cure comes from the poison?”
Her paws met the snowy ground with her usual powerful stride as she moved towards the utterly confused and stunned Shepherd. Eyes settling for the first time on him since Syndrome had appeared. Though outwardly he didn’t show much leadership qualities he had been with the pack longer than any other member and was the most loyal to Reix. His shock was an unexpected reaction. She stopped within feet of the older Shepherd. Her head held high and her tail raised high upon her back. “Toshi… Come now, I told you to be strong. Won’t you remain loyal to my wishes? I’m not yet fit to rule this pack and I can feel it in my blood that Iris would hate how it has become.” She broke her strong stare to glance off to the side, hoping he could not see the emotion in her eyes. “ It has crumbled in my paws. You know more about this pack than anyone and know how the White Queen would have wanted things to be. I trust only you could keep them this way.” She looked back to him. “I know that you have it in you. Maybe not the true heart of a ruler but certainly one of dignity, respect and compassion. A heart for Reix.“
Bullet lowered her stance and her tail. It was the passing of the crown. An act that made her sick to do but she knew was necessary to prove that she was serious and to give Toshi that boost of confidence. Emotion drained from her face she turned her back to him to face Syndrome. It had all seemed so easy until it had actually been done. She had been stripped of everything she had ever wanted, except for Syndrome but he was a more recent desire. Bullet knew in her heart Iris was proud of her decision but, it didn’t make the act any less bitter.
She looked to Syndrome for an escape because she was done. Defeated by her own selfish greed. She knew Toshi would be better for Reix… at least for the time being.
```````````````````` {Word Count} - 878 {Puppet} - Bullet {Muse} - Amazing {Thoughts} – I feel horrible keep getting these posts up so late but I love this thread so I'm still trying. Sorry this post sucks so much. I probably should have explained more about how her confidence is starting to falter and then falls out at the end. Not to worry though because she still has a God complex and it'll be back soon... She's just upset. I feel like I'm not explaining enough in my posts. x3;

Ridge of fur along his back pricked as he felt something close to a spark of insanity race through his veins. The effects of Dire would never be fully erased but the brute would always win over it and gain control so that he would not plummet completely into the darkness. In a way, he was very much like Dean in his dark angel complex but, yet he was also like his mother in the fact that he used his emotions of thrill in a slightly devious manner though, far less in severity than Wraith and for much different reasons. Syndrome was his own unique brand of candid and though there really was not a column he fit into the best description was that of a mild dark vigilante who sought to defeat the evil creatures of the city; the world by being unplaced and unpredictable. What made it so complex was that he was not so unpredictable that it left one reeling in their own insanity but, he was just enough to keep a level of mystery about him as well as a dark attraction--the very one he had hooked Bullet with. However, he was genuine and never a lier nor a fiend but truthful but, in a way that was almost dark, even malicious but, precise. The candid was an enigma; a never ending puzzle that was not meant to be completely pieced together.
This made him both powerful and weak at the same time. Powerful because he left a sense of weariness about him and because of his infectious nature but, weak because he could never be a leader of a gang. His members could never trust him fully nor learn to appreciate him for he was far too wishy washy for them to feel the support they needed. This, and many more reasons was why he knew he was not right for King of Reix. One question still remained, and that was why he had thought he could in the first place. The answer came in that Reix was hand delivered to Syndrome on a silver platter and he could not resist but to take it. Any candid would have gone wide eyed with such easy pickings and though his intentions were decent, he soon figured out that he was too arrogant and would be too shady of a leader to his members. Soon, they would question him and that was something he would not tolerate. Syndrome was meant for freedom; a life without restraint and it was the reason he came back to Bullet--to tell her it was over.
As he danced and spun around like a whelp who discovered candy in a garbage can, he felt the hot gaze of his lady upon him and was all to quick to desist his puppyish behavior to look her in the eye. Though, Toshi's confusion was overheard, he needed to address Bullet first before she lost control. "And, infect an heir I will my lady..when the time is nigh." His smile was a wry grin as he sent his own tail reaching for the air in a show of dominance. His ridge of fur ruffled, sending the hairs sticking straight up and making them appear as though they were far taller than before. "I will forever be your antidote, Bullet for one can not be without the other--as I am your antidote, you are my sickness. In order to live, I need you." He did not even care if he was making sense or not for he was far to elated to have his life returning back to him so effortlessly. He had expected a blow out between himself and Bullet and was still a little stunned that she had been so laid back about it. Sure, he knew she was boiling inside but, with him allowing the span of time away from each other to evaporate, he knew that she would come full circle, eventually.
Without another word to spare to her, he turned to face the stunned Toshi and smiled his widest smile. "Bullet has made her decision and believe me when I say it is one made with all the wisdom of the world. You are the new King Toshi and you will lead Reix well. As for Bullet and I, were are retiring. Someday, an heir will come to you, seeking to join Reix by your side. Accept him or her with open arms, and though young, he or she will be your best adviser, for we will teach him or her all we know." With a nod to seal the deal, Syndrome turned to bullet, his lady, again and his visage revealed a spark she never witnessed until now. With the thought of an heir on his mind, feelings of primal instinct came washing over him and a desire to take part in a ritual that had been practiced for all canine time, came to claim him. Syndrome might not be able to do anything for Reix himself but, their heir may be the perfect leader the future Reix; the Reix Toshi would retire when he grew to used, old or weak to rule, was looking for. "It is time for you to beset the full honors on Toshi for it is you my lady who gives the final order. Reix was always yours in your heart and forever, it shall be. I was a mere King to your Queen." He was sure that Bullet would believe this a weak notion but, Syndrome was only being heart felt in what he said. Reix was like her child, something she dreamed of ruling and he was only the side kick who helped her get it.
[OOC junk]
muse; plenty words; plenty notes; Syndrome is kind of fighting within himself. Not sure if you guys are cathcing that or not. Lol. Just thought I'd say that. Also, he is a little primal at the end their, feeling his 'smexual instincts' for the first real time. xD!
